What Bose Headphones Do I Have?

QC15 (QC2):

These two headphone models are easily differentiated by a visual inspection. The QC15, or QC2, headphones feature a metallic ring around the "Bose" logo. Moreover, the QC15 headphones say "QuietComfort 15" on the exterior of the earcups. These models utilize a removable battery and feature a very large auxiliary jack on the bottom of the left earcup.

QC25:

The QC25 headphones are also rather easy to identify. While they also use a removable battery, the auxiliary jack on this model is much smaller than the QC15 / QC2 headphones.

QC35 vs QC45:

Since these three QuietComfort models look quite similar, this guide will help you quickly figure out which version you own.

QuietComfort45 vs QuietComfort

The QC45 and QC headphones are physically identical, and our Harmony system made for the QC45/QC headphones is interchangeable only between these two models.

Quick Visual Differences

1. USB Charging Port:

  • QC35: Uses a Micro-USB charging port. This is the older, smaller connector that's asymmetrical and needs to be oriented correctly when plugged in.

  • QC45: Uses a USB-C charging port. USB-C is reversible and oval-shaped, and is more modern and common in newer electronic devices.

2. Buttons and Controls:

  • QC35: Features physical playback buttons (volume up/down and play/pause) on the right earcup. The buttons are raised and easy to feel individually. The middle "play / pause" button is marked by three dots. There are also a "Bluetooth" and a "Battery" symbol located just below these buttons.

  • QC45: Also has physical buttons, but introduces a simplified and slightly more streamlined layout with smoother and more subtle buttons. The middle "play / pause" button does not have any markings on it. There are no "Bluetooth" or "Battery" symbols beneath the buttons.

Labeling:

Every Bose QuietComfort headphone from the QC25 onward should have a Model Number sticker within the right earcup. Just gently peel back the fabric covering of the driver, and check inside, on the top of the frame.

Checking the Serial Number:

If all else fails, you can always plug the serial number (located on a white sticker in the Left earcup) into Bose's serial number lookup. Putting the serial number into this page and downloading the User Manual will tell you exactly what model of Bose Headphones you have!
