Differences in Microphone Boom Lengths
We currently offer two different lengths of Microphone Boom on our website.
The "Left Side" microphone boom measures 6.25 inches (15.2 centimeters). This sizing is our "default" and will work will in most use cases. The "left side" designation refers to which side of the cockpit you may be flying on. Our Harmony System microphone assembly attaches on the left side of every model headphones that we support.
The "Right Side" microphone boom measures 7 inches (17.5 centimeters). This sizing is our "extra-long" option, and is often preferred by pilots flying on the right side of the aircraft. Though our Harmony System connects on the left side of the headphones, all of the models that we support are largely symmetrical, meaning they will fit your head the same way when worn backwards.
For pilots flying on the right side of the aircraft, you may want to consider purchasing the "Right Side" microphone boom and wearing your headset backwards. In this use case, you will need to swivel the microphone boom around 180 degrees, so that it will reach in front of your mouth.
The only difference you may notice when wearing the headphones backwards will be the placement of the headband. When worn normally, the headband will rest slightly forward from the middle of your crown. When worn backwards, the headband will rest slightly behind the middle of your crown. The comfort, function and usability of your system will not be impacted.
